I can’t do a better job than Josh’s recap, so read his post two entries below. All PCs were present for this session.

Catacombs of Wrath

Story Recap

After defeating Tsuto and discovering his journal, the party decided to explore the tunnel leading away from the glassworks’ basement. The party explored the catacombs and defeated several hideous creatures, finally battling a tiny sorcerous creature.

in which the sorcerer takes over narration for the moment

Oh, what a glorious day! Or couple of days. It’s a bit of a blur now, what with the excitement. First I rejoined my friends, then I bought a good box to hold that nice book they gave me with the horrible runes in it, then they said we’re going to hunt goblins so I went out and bought a new goblin-hunting hat. It’s very comfortable, and sometimes it blends in with the forest, if the forest is the right color. It’s not magical, but maybe I’ll fix that one day.

So then we went to this forest with thorns everywhere, and the thorns tried to steal my new hat but I kept it. Ha ha, thorns. Anyway, so we searched and searched and then Dr. Magnus found a hole that the goblins tried to hide so we couldn’t track them, and it took us inside the roots of the thorn plants. It wasn’t too dark in there, since the roots still let some light in, so even the human and the halfling could see okay, which is good because after a little while we found goblins hiding out in there! But the best part was that the goblins didn’t know we found them, so we all gathered around and then the doctor threw a bomb at them, and when the survivors came running out at us, I bashed one on the head and broke it and he got dead. I felt like I was making the hat proud. Then my friends cleaned up the other ones.

We were almost safe, but then a goblin with a magic wand snuck up on with his night leopard, and the dwarf, I don’t remember his name right now, he and I both almost died but then we didn’t and the goblin died instead and I got to keep his wand. So after that we went outside and saw this island with a lot of goblins on it, and we couldn’t get close, especially after they broke the bridge while we were walking on it, so we went back to town. Now we’re resting up so we can get a boat tomorrow and go back and sneak up on the goblins and the angry human lady who we think is their boss. I hope she likes my goblin-hunting hat. It’s probably the last thing she’s going to see.

Session 2 - 7/24/11

Local Heroes

Story Recap

Following the Swallowtail Festival, the PCs are treated like heroes by the residents. They can’t seem to pay for a meal or a drink. As a result of their newly acquired fame, they are asked by Amele Barett to go see what happened to her husband. Amele’s son has been having nightmare’s out a “monster” in his closet since the goblin attack. Whenever her husband went into investigate however, he didn’t find anything. Tonight, however, he found the family dog dead and a goblin chewing on his son’s arm. Amele took the children and went for help while her husband stayed to take care of the goblin.

The PCs handily took care of the goblin, only to find Amele’s husband dead in the closet. After escorting the captured goblin to the jail, the PCs reported to Sheriff Hemlock. After taking their report, the sheriff invited the PC to a meeting with Mayor Deverin and an elven ranger named Shalelu Andosana. Shalelu updated the PCs on the local goblin tribes and their recent activity.

With Shalelu returning to the wilds for further scouting, Sheriff Hemlock asked the PCs to watch over the town while he went to Magnimar for more soldiers. After he left, the PCs were approached by Bethana Corwin, the halfling maid working for Ameiko Kaijitsu. Bethana said that Amieko hadn’t slept in her bed and showed them a note from Ameiko’s brother Tsuto. Bethana begged the PCs to find out what happened to Ameiko.

Two of the PCs investigated the glass works, referenced in Tsuto’s note. Finding goblin activity, the PCs regrouped and approached the glass works all together. The PCs found goblins wreaking havoc in the workshop, along with the bodies of the workers and the glass covered body of Lonjiku Kaijitsu. After dispatching the goblins, the PCs killed Tsuto himself as he ambushed them from behind. Searching the basement revealed Ameiko bound and gagged as well as a passage leading out of the glass works.

After returning Ameiko to Sandpoint, the PCs discussed the best course of action. After initially deciding to seal the tunnel, the PCs read Tsuto’s journal. The PCs found attack plans and references to Nualia (Ezekian Tobyn’s adopted daughter) and demonic references. The PCs reconsidered and decided to explore the tunnel. The PCs located what looked like a staging point for the goblin raid on Sandpoint and another tunnel leading to an underground complex.

Chapter 1 - Burnt Offerings
Swallowtail Festival

Session 1 – 07/10/2011

Story Recap

After five long years of worshipping wherever there was space, the new cathedral to Desna has finally been completed! The dedication will coincide with the yearly Swallowtail festival in a few days. The dedication will be a joyous occasion which should help people forget the “Late Unpleasantness”.

As local residents, the player’s know that five years ago the cathedral was burned down by unknown arsonists. The body of Ezakian Tobyn (the local priest) was found in the rubble. His adopted daughter Nualia went missing at the same time and she is presumed to have perished in the fire as well. At the same time, the wife of local noble Lonjiku Kaijitsu disappered without a trace. To round out the "Late Unpleasantness’, woodcarver Jervas Stoot went on a killing spree. Jervas killed several people before mob justice solved the problem.

The day of the festival arrives. The day is enjoyable for all as the welcoming speeches are all brief and to the point. Vendors display their wares as performers entertain and local tavern owners feed the crowd (Ameiko Kaijitsu, owner of the Rusty Dragon is the local favorite). As the sun begins to set, Father Zantus uses a thunder stone to get everyone’s attention. Unfortunately, a tribe of local goblins take that as a signal to attack.

After most of their tribe is killed, the remaining goblins flee, some even throwing themselves off cliffs rather than being captured alive. A few were taken alive however. Questioning revealed that the goblins had an inside man and that the attacks were a diversion for the theft of Ezakian Tobyn’s remains from the cemetary.

During the attack, the PCs rescued Aldern Foxglove. Aldern is a young noble from Magnimar in for the Swallowtail Festival. He cannot thank the PCs enough for saving him, especially the good doctor who he feels did the most to carry the day. Aldern invites the PCs to dinner and invites them to go boar hunting the following day. After a successful hunt, the group returns to the Rusty Dragon for a dinner of roast boar.

A blog for your campaign

Every campaign gets an Adventure Log, a blog for your adventures!

While the wiki is great for organizing your campaign world, it’s not the best way to chronicle your adventures. For that purpose, you need a blog!

The Adventure Log will allow you to chronologically order the happenings of your campaign. It serves as the record of what has passed. After each gaming session, come to the Adventure Log and write up what happened. In time, it will grow into a great story!

Best of all, each Adventure Log post is also a wiki page! You can link back and forth with your wiki, characters, and so forth as you wish.

One final tip: Before you jump in and try to write up the entire history for your campaign, take a deep breath. Rather than spending days writing and getting exhausted, I would suggest writing a quick “Story So Far” with only a summary. Then, get back to gaming! Grow your Adventure Log over time, rather than all at once.
